Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.2.3.3.5 - Select artworks of dance and drama artistes in the community or other places, and identify the history, culture, environment and topical issues that are reflected in them

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Select at least one dance or drama artwork by an artiste in the community or elsewhere and name the artiste and the title of the work.
  2. Research and write short notes on the history behind the selected dance or drama using at least two sources of information (interviews, books, internet, community elders).
  3. Identify and list two or more cultural elements (clothing, language, rituals, values) reflected in the selected artwork.
  4. Identify and describe at least two features of the environment (landscape, settlement, occupation, climate) that appear in or influence the selected artwork.
  5. Identify and write about at least one topical issue (current social, economic, political or moral concern) that the selected artwork addresses.
