Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.1.1.1.3 - Research to identify and record in writing what constitutes the principles of design and describe how they are used to organise the elements of design into building blocks for creative expression of design in nature and the manmade environment.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

State and explain at least three principles of design (balance, rhythm, repetition) and give a Ghanaian example of each from nature or the manmade environment.
Investigate their school compound or local surroundings to identify and record, in writing, two examples each of balance, rhythm and repetition in nature and in the manmade environment.
Describe, in their own words, how the principles of design work together to organise elements (dots, lines, shapes) into a unified composition.
Create a simple observational sketch that demonstrates one principle of design, showing how it organises dots, lines and shapes.
Present their recorded findings to a partner, explaining clearly how each example demonstrates the principle they identified.
