Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.2.2.1.2 - Distinguish between the types of resistant materials
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Sort at least 10 different resistant materials into their correct categories: wood (hardwood, softwood, manufactured boards), metals (ferrous, non-ferrous, alloys, smart), and plastics (thermosetting, thermoplastic).
- State at least two key characteristics of each main category of resistant materials (wood, metals, plastics).
- Compare and contrast thermosetting plastics with thermoplastics, giving at least one example of each.
- Distinguish between ferrous and non-ferrous metals based on their iron content.
- Present a sorted collection of resistant material samples to the class and justify the reasoning behind their categorisation.
