Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.3.1.2.1 - Demonstrate ability to accurately pronounce Arabic words formed from a combination of various vowels.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the sukun (ْ) mark and state its function as the absence of a vowel in Arabic.
  2. Combine a short vowel (fatha, kasra, damma) with a sukun to pronounce a two-letter syllable correctly (e.g., بَيْ, بُخْ, ضَرْ).
  3. Read and pronounce whole words containing a combination of short vowels and sukun accurately in Arabic.
  4. Read aloud a short list of Arabic words containing sukun combinations to a group with clear pronunciation.
  5. Differentiate between a word with a short vowel alone and the same letter with a sukun when reading.
