Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.2.1.2.1 - Demonstrate the ability to produce the phonemic representation of Arabic consonants and vowels, and their various groupings.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Pronounce correctly the individual sounds of the Arabic consonants: أ، ب، ت، ث، ج، ح، خ، د، ذ، ر، ز، س، ش، ص، ض، ط، ظ، ع، غ، ف، ق، ك، ل، م، ن، هـ، و، ي.
Distinguish between pairs of similar-sounding consonants such as س and ش, ص and ض, and ت and ط when hearing them in isolation.
Pronounce the three short vowels (fatha, kasra, damma) attached to consonants, and recognise their effect on word meaning.
Combine two or three consonants with vowels to form and pronounce simple Arabic words correctly.
Identify and pronounce the long vowels (ا، و، ي) within simple words, distinguishing them from their short vowel counterparts.
