Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.2.1.1.2 - Recognise the use of appropriate expressions and intonations to respond to courtesies like, “You are welcome …”, “No, thank you.”

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least four Arabic expressions used to respond to greetings and courtesies, including “أهلاً وسهلاً” (You are welcome) and “لا، شكراً” (No, thank you).
Match each courtesy response to its appropriate situation, such as welcoming a guest or politely declining an offer.
Produce the correct intonation for each response, distinguishing between a warm welcoming tone and a polite declining tone.
Respond orally, with the correct expression and intonation, to courtesy prompts given by the teacher in short dialogues.
Give feedback to a partner on word choice and sentence fluency during paired practice, as encouraged by competency CC7.3.
