Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.1.2.1.2 - Show understanding of the difference in intonation of simple phrases relating to weights and temperature of class and school environments.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least five Arabic words for weights and temperature (ثقيل, خفيف, حار, بارد, دافئ) when heard in spoken phrases.
- Distinguish between heavy and light weights, and hot, cold and warm temperatures, through correct hand and facial expressions.
- Respond appropriately to teacher-stated phrases about weights and temperature by matching intonation cues to the correct meaning.
- Demonstrate understanding of intonation differences by producing the correct gesture or expression when hearing phrases about classroom and school objects.
- Explain in simple terms why the tone of voice matters when describing weight and temperature in Arabic.
Note: The indicators for Week 8 on numbers, colours and shapes, and Week 9 on stories, greetings and courtesies, are not taught in this lesson.
