Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.1.1.1.2 - Show ability to listen to and identify phonemes as shown in the examples.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Listen to a spoken Arabic word and identify the first phoneme (initial letter sound) from a choice of given letters.
- Distinguish between minimally contrasting Arabic phonemes, such as ت/ث, ح/خ, س/ش, د/ذ, when heard in spoken words.
- Match spoken words to their written forms by recognising the target phoneme in the word.
- Produce the correct phoneme when asked to isolate a specific sound from a word they hear.
- Use the phonetic knowledge from the exemplar words (e.g., أَرْنَب, بَطَّة, تُمْنَا, ثَوْب, جَمَل, حِصَان, خُبْز, دَلْو, رَجُل, زَرَافَة) to identify phonemes accurately in new or familiar words.
