Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.3.2.3 - Illustrate how the intended direction of an object is affected by the angle of the implement or body part at the time of contact.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate how changing the angle of their hand, arm, or foot at the point of contact changes the direction a ball travels.
  2. Predict the direction an object will travel when an implement or body part contacts it at a given angle.
  3. Perform toss-and-catch activities at high, medium, and low levels while controlling the direction of the ball.
  4. Explain, using correct vocabulary (angle, direction, level, contact point), why a ball bounces or travels differently when contacted at different angles.
  5. Apply the principle of angle of contact to improve accuracy in a simple target game.
