Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.1.2.1.3 - Perform the differences in applying and receiving force when jumping for height and distance (high jump).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate a vertical jumping approach for height, using both arms to control balance during the run-up and take-off.
- Perform a one-foot take-off and a two-foot take-off for height, explaining how force is applied differently in each.
- Land safely from a high jump with feet shoulder width apart, knees flexed, and landing on the balls of the feet (double landing).
- Compare applying force for height versus applying force for distance, using correct terms such as “force”, “take-off”, “flight”, and “landing”.
- Describe how leaning the trunk slightly backwards during flight helps control the body when jumping for height.

Learners after adequate warm-up, they go through a vertical jumping approach. Learners use both arms efficiently to control balance as needed during approach run and take-off. Learners control the flight phase by leaning their trunk slightly backwards, one-foot take-off, two feet take-off, feet land shoulder width apart and flexion of knees with the height of the jump and landing on the balls of feet (double landing).
