Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.8.1.2 - Find meaning of words as used in context

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify unfamiliar words in a silently read passage and underline them.
  2. Use surrounding words, sentences, and clues in the text to infer the meaning of unfamiliar words.
  3. Match target vocabulary from the passage to their correct meanings based on how the words are used in the text.
  4. Write one original sentence for each of three target words, showing the word used correctly in a new context.
  5. Explain how the same word can take on different meanings in different sentences, using examples from the passage.
