Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.8.1.1 - Read silently and reasonably for meaning from a level-appropriate text

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Read a level-appropriate passage silently at a reasonable pace without moving their lips or pointing at words.
  2. Stop and think about the text at set target points and state what has happened so far in their own words.
  3. Apply a fix-up strategy (re-reading, reading on, or looking at the title and pictures) when meaning is not clear.
  4. Answer “While Reading” questions correctly by locating evidence in the text.
  5. Summarise the main events of a passage in one or two sentences after reading silently.
