Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.7.1.4 - Read level-appropriate texts silently and closely for comprehension

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Read a level-appropriate passage silently, without moving their lips or pointing at words, for a set period of time
  • Recall and state at least three specific facts or details from a passage read silently
  • Re-read a passage closely to find details they missed during the first silent reading
  • Answer literal comprehension questions about a text using evidence from the passage
  • Use the Directed Reading Activity (DRA) steps: prepare, read silently, and discuss, to guide their own reading
