By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Read a level-appropriate passage silently, without moving their lips or pointing at words, for a set period of time
Recall and state at least three specific facts or details from a passage read silently
Re-read a passage closely to find details they missed during the first silent reading
Answer literal comprehension questions about a text using evidence from the passage
Use the Directed Reading Activity (DRA) steps: prepare, read silently, and discuss, to guide their own reading
