Indicator: B6.2.7.1.3 - Scan/skim for details
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the difference between skimming (reading quickly for the general idea) and scanning (reading quickly to find specific information).
- Skim a level-appropriate text in 3 to 4 minutes and state the main idea in one or two sentences.
- Scan the same text to locate specific details such as names, dates, places, and numbers.
- Present their findings from skimming and scanning to the class using clear spoken sentences.
- Use skimming and scanning as a regular first step before reading a text closely for full comprehension.
