Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.7.1.1 - Construct meaning from texts

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Predict what a text will be about by looking at the title, pictures, and their own background knowledge before reading.
  2. Adjust their predictions as they read when new information in the text does not match what they expected.
  3. Connect their own experiences and prior knowledge to the events and characters in a text to deepen their understanding.
  4. Answer literal and inferential questions during and after reading a text, using clues from the text to support their answers.
  5. Use the words and sentences around an unfamiliar word as clues to figure out its meaning.
