Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.2.6.1.1 - Use level-appropriate content words (nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs) and function words (prepositions) appropriately in spoken and written communication
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define content words and function words in their own words, using at least two examples of each.
- Sort a given list of ten words into content words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs) and function words (prepositions).
- Identify and label content words and function words in sentences written on the board or on sentence strips.
- Construct five meaningful sentences that each contain at least two content words and one preposition, and share these with a partner or group.
- Justify why a word belongs to either the content or function category when asked orally in class.
