Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.1.7.1.4 - Use background knowledge to understand and build new knowledge while listening to informational text
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Activate their prior knowledge about a topic by completing the K and W columns of a KWL chart before listening to an informational text.
- Listen attentively to an informational text read aloud and identify at least three main ideas from it.
- Use their background knowledge to make connections between what they already know and the new information presented in the text.
- Complete the L column of a KWL chart by stating at least two new facts they learned from listening to the text.
- Work collaboratively in groups to discuss and share the main ideas and new knowledge gained from the text.
