Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.7.1.2 - Relate the sequence of events (E.g. beginning, middle and end) stories/drama/texts

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Define the terms beginning, middle and end as they apply to the structure of a story or text.
  • Listen to a level-appropriate story and identify the key events that belong to each part of the sequence (beginning, middle, end).
  • Arrange a set of jumbled events from a story in the correct chronological order.
  • Retell a familiar story in the correct sequence using signal words such as first, then, next, after that and finally.
  • Work in groups to sort events from a story into a three-part plot structure and justify their choices.
