Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.6.2.1 - View and listen attentively and for a sustained period, (e.g., look at the person speaking and maintain eye contact) and record the key issues in the discussion

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate attentive listening behaviour (maintaining eye contact, nodding, facing the speaker) while a partner speaks for at least two minutes without interruption.
  2. Identify and state at least three key issues from a short conversation on a given topic (family, customs, or people).
  3. Record key issues from a discussion in note form using short phrases or bullet points.
  4. Ask one clarifying question after listening to a speaker, showing they have understood the main points.
  5. Critique a peer’s listening behaviour positively, using polite expressions such as “You maintained eye contact well” or “Next time, you could face the speaker more directly.”
