Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.3.5.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Select and arrange their finished artworks (2-dimensional and 3-dimensional) to suit the theme of the exhibition and the space available.
Mount artworks using at least three different display methods such as hanging, draping, placing, spreading, leaning, or using plinths.
Label each exhibited work with the artist’s name, title, size, and date of production using neat calligraphy or computer prints.
Take on specific exhibition duties (welcoming visitors, guiding tours, explaining works, or managing the visitors’ book) and carry them out responsibly.
Monitor the exhibition space to protect artworks from improper handling by visitors.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Learners are to:
- decide on the types and number of artworks (2-dimensional and 3-dimansional) to exhibit and mount them based on the space available to suit the theme for the exhibition (e.g. artworks that reflect the medium and style of international artists studied);
- display artworks by hanging, draping, placing, spreading, leaning, using plinths to raise or add height and depth to some exhibits;
- label the works using manual (calligraphy writing) or ICT (computer prints): name of artist, title of work, size of work, date of production;
- assign tasks and responsibilities to themselves (individually or in groups) and ensure they are carried out successfully (e.g. leading visitors through the exhibition space, explaining the concepts/title of the artworks and the theme for the exhibition, writing of comments and signing of visitors' books).
NOTE
- check/monitor visitors from improper practices e.g. touching, lifting, handling and/or taking away some of the exhibits;
- organise opening and closing ceremonies for the exhibition.
