Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.1.2.3.1 - Create functional and decorative visual artworks based on own views, knowledge and understanding of the medium and style of some international visual artists studied
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- name at least two international visual artists studied in Term 1 and describe the distinctive medium and style of each
- present a design concept for a functional or decorative artwork, explaining how it reflects the medium and style of a chosen international artist
- apply the techniques and media associated with a chosen international artist’s style using locally available materials
- create one completed functional or decorative artwork that clearly shows the influence of the chosen international artist’s style
- discuss and compare their finished works through jury and peer review, giving constructive feedback using art vocabulary

Learners are to: - present and share design concepts that reflect knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of some communities in the world; - demonstrate embedded knowledge, skill and experience in the application and use of selected medium and style of an international artist: e.g. - elements and principles of art - media: materials (oil paint, clay, paper, cement, stone, yarns, fabric etc.), tools (craft tools, carving tools, brushes, modelling tools, etc.) - methods and techniques: painting, modelling, casting, carving, slabbing, pinching, coiling, sewing, stitching, printing, weaving, dyeing, embossing, quilling, etc.; - make own artworks similar to the works and style of the international artists studied using available materials and tools from the local environment; - discuss, compare and share experiences through jury and peer review.
