Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.6.9.1.4 - Differentiate between virtual friends and real friends.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define virtual friends and real friends in their own words.
- Distinguish between the characteristics of virtual friends and real friends.
- Identify at least three risks associated with trusting virtual friends too quickly.
- Demonstrate how to maintain safety when communicating with virtual friends online.
- Justify the importance of valuing real friendships while managing virtual friendships responsibly.
This lesson builds on the previous weeks’ work on handling private information (B6.6.9.1.1), protecting oneself from identity theft (B6.6.9.1.2), and dealing with spam messages (B6.6.9.1.3). Learners already know how to keep personal details safe; this week they apply that knowledge to the people they meet online.
