By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define SQL and explain its purpose as a language for talking to databases.
Write a simple CREATE DATABASE command to set up a new database.
Use the SELECT command to retrieve specific names of students from a class database.
Apply the UPDATE command to change or correct data in a database.
Read and interpret simple SQL commands and predict what each one will do.
