Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.1.1.4 - Demonstrate proper use of keyboarding technique.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the correct seated posture and hand position for typing at a computer keyboard.
  2. Place their fingers on the home row keys (A S D F J K L ;) without looking at the keyboard.
  3. Type a simple sentence using correct fingering for all letters in the sentence.
  4. Demonstrate proper keyboarding technique for at least 2 minutes without errors.
  5. Explain why proper keyboarding technique matters for speed and comfort when typing.
