By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define the term “generation of computers” in their own words.
  2. Identify and name the five generations of computers in chronological order.
  3. Match each generation of computers to its key technology (vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits, microprocessors, artificial intelligence).
  4. Classify common computing devices (super computers, mainframes, minicomputers, microcomputers, mobile phones) under the correct generation.
  5. Describe at least one way each generation changed how people live and work.
