Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.1.6.1.6 - Striking a dropping light ball upward and forward to a teammate using the hands or feet.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate the correct technique for striking a dropping light ball upward and forward using the hands (volley style) with proper hand positioning and follow-through.
- Demonstrate the correct technique for striking a dropping light ball upward and forward using the feet (instep kick) with proper balance and contact point.
- Strike a dropping ball to a partner at a distance of 3 to 5 metres, maintaining control and direction.
- Cooperate with a partner to keep a continuous rally of at least 5 consecutive strikes without the ball touching the ground.
- Apply precision, coordination, balance and patience when striking the ball during mini volleyball and football activities.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
After warm-ups as usual, learners are grouped in pairs with a ball. Learners toss balls and swing their feet from behind to strike the ball to a partner at appropriate distance. Partners strike the ball back to continue the rally. Group can be striking balls light ball like volleyballs with their hands and whiles strike heavy balls like football with their foot to prevent injuries. Learners continue with the process when the ball drops. Supervise and give support to learners. Organise mini football and volley competition. End lesson with cool down.
