Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.1.4.1.1 - Describe skills for dealing with peer pressure
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define peer pressure and distinguish between positive peer pressure and negative peer pressure.
- Identify at least three benefits of belonging to a good peer group and three dangers of belonging to a bad peer group.
- Describe at least four practical skills for saying “no” to negative peer pressure, such as assertive refusal, walking away, and seeking help from a trusted adult.
- Demonstrate through role play how to resist pressure from an older pupil who encourages drinking alcohol, taking drugs, or engaging in premarital sex.
- Explain why obedience, respect, and personal values help a person stand firm against bad influence from friends.
