Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.4.1.1 - Describe skills for dealing with peer pressure

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define peer pressure and distinguish between positive peer pressure and negative peer pressure.
Identify at least three benefits of belonging to a good peer group and three dangers of belonging to a bad peer group.
Describe at least four practical skills for saying “no” to negative peer pressure, such as assertive refusal, walking away, and seeking help from a trusted adult.
Demonstrate through role play how to resist pressure from an older pupil who encourages drinking alcohol, taking drugs, or engaging in premarital sex.
Explain why obedience, respect, and personal values help a person stand firm against bad influence from friends.
