B5 French · Term 3, Week 1
Parler des jours de la semaine
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.4.3.4.1 - Écrire ce que l’on fait chaque jour de la semaine
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Recall and write the seven days of the week in French in the correct order with correct spelling (lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche).
- Write at least five sentences describing what they do on different days of the week, using the structure “Le [day], je [verb phrase]” (e.g., Le lundi, je vais à l’école).
- Use the correct day vocabulary in written sentences to describe weekly routines from their own lives.
- Produce a short written diary entry (4 to 6 sentences) covering activities across the week, using the days of the week and appropriate action verbs.
- Apply correct punctuation and capitalisation rules for days of the week in French (days are not capitalised unless they start a sentence).
Building on the listening, speaking and reading work from Terms 2 and 3, this lesson moves learners to written production as the final step in the sequence. It assumes learners can already say and recognise the days orally; the focus here is writing them correctly in connected sentences.
