By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the subject of a compound sentence and explain what it names.
- Identify the predicate of a compound sentence and explain what it tells about the subject.
- Distinguish simple sentences from compound sentences in a given passage.
- Locate the two independent clauses in a compound sentence and the joining word (conjunction) that connects them.
- Write their own compound sentences about an event they participated in, correctly identifying the subject and predicate in each clause.
