Indicator: B5.4.13.2.3 - Establish and maintain a formal style

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify features of formal style in a model argumentative passage, such as standard vocabulary, complete sentences, and avoidance of slang.
Distinguish between formal and informal language by sorting given expressions into two categories.
Rewrite informal sentences into formal English appropriate for an argumentative essay.
Produce a short argumentative paragraph (or group composition) on a given topic that maintains a formal style throughout.
Give and receive feedback on the formality of classmates’ writing during group presentations.
