Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.2.7.1.4 - Read level-appropriate texts silently and closely for comprehension.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and state the three stages of reading strategies: Before Reading, During Reading, and After Reading.
  2. Apply the Before Reading strategy by previewing a text and making predictions about its content.
  3. Read a level-appropriate text silently, using the During Reading strategies of questioning, visualising, and noting key ideas.
  4. Demonstrate comprehension by answering questions about the text after completing the After Reading strategy.
  5. Give at least one reason why silent close reading helps them understand a text better than reading aloud.
