Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.1.10.1.1 - Demonstrate awareness of the features of spoken language, e.g. use of discourse markers - well, also, finally
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define discourse markers and identify at least three examples (well, also, finally) in spoken sentences.
- Explain why speakers use discourse markers to organise their ideas and connect thoughts.
- Use the discourse markers “well,” “also,” and “finally” correctly in short spoken responses and sentences.
- Identify contractions (e.g., can’t, won’t, I’m) and ellipsis (leaving out words) in spoken examples.
- Produce a short spoken presentation of 3 to 4 sentences that includes at least two discourse markers, one contraction, and one example of ellipsis.
