Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.2.4.7.3 - Analyse and appreciate/appraise own or others’ performing artworks and present reports as feedback on compositions that reflect topical issues in Africa
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least three topical issues in Africa (such as climate change, deforestation, child labour, or the fight against COVID-19) that are reflected in performing artworks.
- Analyse a recorded performance (drama, dance, or music) about a topical African issue using the agreed guidelines from earlier lessons, discussing the theme, subject matter, media, techniques, and social or cultural values.
- Write a structured feedback report on a performance, giving both positive observations and suggestions for improvement using dispassionate language.
- Use the outcome of their appraisal to suggest at least one meaningful modification or improvement to the performance.
- Share their feedback report with classmates through an approved digital platform (such as WhatsApp or the class group page) as part of class documentation.

Learners are to: - display (photographs/video) of selected performances (own or that of others) that reflect current topical issues of much concern in Africa; - talk about the performances dispassionately using agreed guidelines; - use the outcome of the appreciation/appraisal to modify the product or to produce similar or another composition and performance; - record/document the activity and share using an accepted social media by the class/group (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp).
