Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.2.1.1.3 - Study some compositions and performances of Ghanaian and other African performing artists that reflect the physical and social environments of some African communities.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three compositions or performances by Ghanaian and other African performing artists that reflect the physical or social environment of African communities.
  2. Discuss in pairs the type of art-form, theme or purpose, and the specific environmental idea each selected work reflects.
  3. Describe the style of composition, method of production, and performance features of at least one selected work.
  4. Compare two selected works in terms of type, function, elements, tempo, rhythm, and methods of performance.
  5. Share personal views during a plenary session, using appropriate performing arts vocabulary.
