Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.1.1.3 - Study some artworks created by Ghanaian and other African visual artists studied that reflect the physical and social environments of some African communities

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Name at least two Ghanaian visual artists and two other African visual artists whose works reflect the physical and social environments of African communities.
  2. Identify and describe the type of artwork, theme or purpose, and the idea from the physical and social environment that a given artwork reflects.
  3. Compare two artworks in terms of type, function, materials used, and method of production, using a simple comparison table.
  4. Share their views about an artwork in pairs and during a plenary session, using at least three descriptive sentences.
  5. Sort artworks into those that reflect the physical environment and those that reflect the social environment, giving reasons for their choices.
