Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.6.8.1.4 - Identify the role of smart sensors in the Internet of Things.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Explain what a smart sensor is and describe its main job in an IoT system.
Identify at least three everyday IoT devices that use smart sensors (e.g., electronic doors, RFID tags, CCTV cameras).
Define at least five terms and acronyms related to IoT, including sensor, actuator, RFID, CCTV, and IoT itself.
Describe how a smart sensor collects data (sensing) and passes it on for action (data collection).
Give one simple example of how a smart sensor responds to climatic change, such as temperature or motion.
