Data, Sources and Usage
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.1.3.1.6 - Recognise data types (integer, double, float).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define data type in their own words and explain why computers need to know the type of data being used.
- Identify integers as whole numbers, including negative numbers and zero, and give examples from everyday life.
- Distinguish between float and double as number types that include decimal points, with double capable of holding larger and more precise values.
- Sort given numbers into the correct data type category (integer, float, double) with accuracy.
- Play and complete a group game where they call out numbers and classmates identify the correct data type, building on the exemplar activity from the curriculum.
