Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.3.1.5 - Demonstrate basic calculations on sample data e.g. arranging and summing and averaging data.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Arrange a given set of sample data in ascending and descending order.
  2. Add (sum) a set of sample data accurately using mental maths and written methods.
  3. Find the average (mean) of a set of sample data by dividing the sum by the number of items.
  4. Present their calculated findings (sum and average) clearly to the class using simple tables.
  5. Use the correct vocabulary: data, arrange, sort, sum, total, average, mean.
