Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.3.1.1 - Use Strategies for identifying data from results of an experiment.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. distinguish between qualitative data (descriptions) and quantitative data (numbers) from the results of a simple experiment;
  2. identify at least three strategies for recognising data when looking at experiment results;
  3. sort experiment results into qualitative and quantitative categories with at least 80% accuracy;
  4. convert simple experiment results from one format to another (for example, from a list to a tally chart, or from a description to a set of numbers) without losing the meaning of the data;
  5. explain why it is important to keep data accurate when recording results from an experiment.
