Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.1.1.7 - Summarise the generation of computers.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Recall at least four devices they have used before and classify them as computers or non-computers.
  2. State the five generations of computers in chronological order (First to Fifth).
  3. Describe at least one key feature of each generation, such as the technology used (valves, transistors, chips).
  4. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of computers from different generations using simple examples.
  5. Create a short summary chart (pictorial or written) showing how computers have changed from the First to the Fifth Generation.

NB: Learners can practice with the keyboard only in the absence of the applications.
Learners should be guided to play computer games to re-enforce keyboard and mouse skills.
