Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Dribbling is the act of keeping the ball under the control of the player with the ball. In dribbling without opponent, the player with the ball is under no pressure and at liberty to do whatever he/she wants to do with the ball within the rules of the game. When dribbling with an opponent, the player with the ball is being contested for the ball and as a result has to consider the movements and actions of the opponent as well as keep the ball under control away from the opponent.
