Indicator: B2.4.7.1.1 - Write or copy correct sentences from substitution tables
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the different parts of a substitution table (who, what, where).
- Read a substitution table and form at least three correct sentences from it.
- Write or copy complete, correct sentences from a substitution table into their exercise books.
- Substitute different words in a table to create new, meaningful sentences.
- Work with a partner to build and read aloud sentences from a substitution table.

- Have a simple 3-4 column substitution table on the board. e.g. I Sing School We Play at Home The Boys Read the park - Have learners identify the words that make up the table. - With an example, let learners form sentences from the substitution table. - Have learners read out their sentences and write down their sentences in their books.
The substitution table is drawn, and its cells arrive in the text layer as one run of words; the figure shows it.
