Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.4.1.1.1 - Identify the role of the individual members of the family.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Name at least four members of a family (father, mother, children, grandparents) when asked.
State one main role of the father in the family, such as providing shelter, food, or security.
State one main role of the mother in the family, such as caring for children or preparing meals.
Mention two tasks children perform at home, such as sweeping or running errands.
Act out the role of a family member in a short role-play and tell what that member does.

- Let learners, in groups, talk about their roles and roles of their parents in the family:
  - Parents: Provision of shelter, food, security and education,
  - Children: running errands, performing house chores, etc.
- Let learners role-play the functions of the various members in the family, e.g. Learners play the role of a father, mother, etc.
