Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.1.6.1.6 - Strike a light ball upward continuously, using arms, hands, and feet.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Strike a hanging light ball upward repeatedly using their hands (open palms and fists) with good control and accuracy.
  2. Strike a hanging light ball upward continuously using their feet (instep and toe) while maintaining balance.
  3. Keep a light ball in the air by striking it upward without letting it touch the ground, using hands first and then feet.
  4. Work cooperatively with a partner or small group to practice striking a tossed ball, showing patience and fair-play.
  5. Apply the striking skill in a simple mini volleyball or football game for fun and enjoyment.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

After general and specific warm-ups, demonstrate to learners how to strike a ball continuously with their hands and feet by:
1. Hang light balls on a cross bar
2. Stand in front and strike the ball upwards continuously as it moves back to your reach with hands and later with feet.
3. Guide learners to practice as individuals and in groups at their own pace.
4. Let the advance learners toss balls after mastering the skill with the hang balls strike it with their hands and later with their feet continuously.
5. Organise mini football or volleyball for learners to apply the skills for fun and enjoyment
