Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.6.1.1.1 - Read a variety of age - appropriate books and texts from print

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Choose an age-appropriate book or text from a classroom selection during library time.
Read or “pretend read” a picture book or wordless book individually for at least 5 minutes.
Read a short text aloud with a partner, taking turns and pointing to the words.
Talk about one thing they saw or liked in the book they read.
Show care for books by handling them properly and returning them to the correct place.

- Have a variety of age appropriate books for learners to make a choice from.
- Introduce picture or wordless books, pop-up and flip-the-page texts to learners.
- Encourage them to read individually and in pairs, and provide support and encouragement.
