Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.5.4.1.2 - Use the present tense of verbs to express the present state of things or situations

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Identify the present tense form of a verb used to describe the current state of a thing or situation
  • Describe the present state of objects, people and places using the present tense of the verb “to be” (is, am, are)
  • Answer questions about present states of things using complete sentences with the correct present tense verb
  • Use the present tense of other common verbs (has, have, feels, looks, seems) to express how things are right now
  • Write two or three sentences describing the present state of things in their classroom using present tense verbs correctly
