Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.4.5.1.2 - Write simple familiar words

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Say the names of at least five favourite dishes or foods they know from home.
  2. Talk about the ingredients used to prepare a familiar dish such as Jollof, waakye, or kenkey.
  3. Spell and write at least five ingredient words correctly from the class list.
  4. Write a simple list of three to five ingredients for their own chosen favourite food without help.
  5. Check a partner’s list and say whether any words are missing or misspelled.

- Let learners select one food and talk about the ingredients used in its preparation, e.g. Jollof.
- Let learners mention the ingredients as teacher writes them on the board.
- Let them then work as individuals, choose their own special food or dish and write the ingredients.
- Let learners do peer editing.
