Indicator: B1.2.2.1.1 - Identify the alphabet in order
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Recite the alphabet from a to z in the correct order while pointing to each letter
- Identify and name all 26 letters of the alphabet (both uppercase and lowercase) when shown on cards or a chart
- Arrange a given set of letter cards in alphabetical order from a to z
- Match uppercase letters (A-Z) with their lowercase partners (a-z)
- Sing the alphabet song and point to the correct letter on a chart as each letter is sung

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
- Introduce the lesson with alphabet songs paying attention to the letters as they sing. - Show an alphabet chart and have learners identify the letters of the alphabet (aA- zZ). - Use alphabet cards, alphabet trees, picture cards, etc. to play alphabet games. Let learners play matching games with the cards, e.g. Sound Ball Game, Find My Partner, etc.
