Learning Objectives
Indicator: B1.1.8.1.1 - Use appropriate pronunciation and intonation in asking and answering Yes/No questions
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify Yes/No questions and distinguish them from other kinds of questions by their rising intonation and the way they begin.
- Ask Yes/No questions using the correct rising intonation with the structures “Is this…?”, “Is that…?”, and “Are these…?”
- Answer Yes/No questions with the short responses “Yes, it is”, “No, it isn’t”, “Yes, they are”, and “No, they aren’t”, using appropriate falling intonation.
- Demonstrate correct pronunciation of key words when asking and answering Yes/No questions in pair work.
- Participate confidently in simple question and answer exchanges with a partner in the classroom.
