Indicator: B1.1.7.1.2 - Recognise and relate the sequence of events in a narrative text

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Listen attentively to a narrative text read aloud by the teacher and identify the main events in the story.
Arrange the events of a story in the correct order (first, next, then, finally).
Use simple sequence words (first, next, after that, in the end) to retell the events of a story.
Identify and describe the beginning, middle and ending of a narrative text.
Work in pairs or groups to talk about the order of events in a story and justify their choices.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

- Read a narrative text aloud to learners.
- Put learners in pairs/groups to identify and talk about the parts of the story (e.g. beginning, middle and ending).
